HOIST-RIGGING OPTIONS: It is the user's discretion to choose a particular rigging set-up that is appropriate according to their accommodations & material available to them.  

bullet Manual support-lift: creating tension on lift ropes by hand, securing, then removing shim-pads from beneath animal's front feet, which allows animal's weight to settle in sling.  Turn-buckles can also be used for that last little bit of lift.  
bullet Block & tackle: used in accordance with double-tree. 
bullet Mechanical winch (come-a-long): used in accordance with one or two pulleys in accordance with a double-tree. 
bullet Mechanical chain hoist.  Seek professional assistance when designing & constructing your hoist-rigging.  Use two lift-ropes for animals over 500 pounds. One lift rope can be used with animals under 500 pounds with or without the use of a double-tree. 

IT IS IMPERATIVE TO USE PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRIAL-STRENGTH QUALITY HOIST-RIGGING MATERIALS.  MANY HARDWARE STORES DO NOT PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL QUALITY MATERIALS.  SEEK PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE WHEN CHOOSING ROPE, CHAIN, LIFT-RIGGING.

ROPE, CHAIN, AND HOISTING EQUIPMENT MUST PROVIDE THREE TONS OR MORE TINSEL STRENGTH CAPABILITY.  IT IS IMPERATIVE TO PROVIDE TINSEL STRENGTH OF RIGGING 2 TO 3 TIMES STRONGER THAN THE WEIGHT OF THE ANIMAL.  ROPE, CHAIN, AND CABLE LOOSES STRENGTH WHERE IT BENDS AND WHERE THERE IS A KNOT.
