the APECS All Purpose Equine Care Station Features Adjustable & Interactive Containment Poles |
|
|
A Deluxe Model of the APECS, Complete with Cathedral Ceiling, Adjustable Poles and Front Tie Post For Complete Versatility This Station Facilitates Up To Four Containment Poles Front & Rear And Three Containment Poles On Each Side |
The three greatest aspects of the front tie post (or three point hitch) is that:
1. Softness & safety...You don't need line knots, only wrap the rope one or more times and gauge the hold or slippage to your liking.
2. The animal cannot mess or fidget with the line because the post is out of his reach
3. The softness of the line promotes body softness in the animal ten fold.
Note : Half the time we work, love & play with the horse...they are not tied.
Animals love the roominess yet also comfort and security of the APECS.

The Horse's Personal Space In This Size APECS Is 4' x 12'
This Works Excellent For Large Horse to Pony-Sized Equine and still provides ample room for a handler inside
Round penning, arena training, and other schooling protocols are definitely important in any training regime. Yet, the APECS will become an integral, high-impact component of any equine management regime. The APECS is a state-of-the-art training/care facility.
Except for some ground-fill and a decent
roof, this APECS has recently been completed.
On the front tie-post you will notice two antique porcelain door knobs as rope
stops.
The mare in photo has just stepped into the APECS for the first time.
Dave is softening her up with a gentling pole.
Introducing the APECS (All Purpose Equine Care Station) created by horse trainer / pole gentler, Dave Montana. Through thirty years experience of working with horses and paddocks, round pens, corrals, etc Dave has created the APECS, a specialized training / care, semi-convertible stockade.
Remember, when having a stock built it is a good idea to allow a sling holding beam to be incorporated into the design. Here are photos of the APECS and other stock options and links.
The front and side
containment poles are hung in mining belt slings, which is the absolute best for
the job
and provides stable hold, good grip, but allows the side poles to be easily
moved out to nearly 45 degrees.
Depending on the horse you have and what you are doing at the time, the front
and rear containment poles
can be removed or switched into different positions.

Here are excerpts from Dave's APECS book showing various designs and general pole and line positions.

Above demonstrates general softening and line sensitizing maneuvers.

This positioning above will give you ideas on line and voice cue maneuvers.

Here are other chutes / stocks for close confinement / containment.
Dave is pressure-washing hooves of yearling colt.
Notice the softness of the horse's body.
This is a minimum security stock.
Rainbow is starting to soften and lift his foot by touch and voice
command.
The young horse here can actually turn gently end-for-end in this stock.
The chain is equipped with a safety release pin.
Pressure washing and-or
bathing/disinfecting the hooves on a regular basis is not
only a must-do in the treatment of white line disease, thrush etc
but is also a preventative measure against any harmful microorganisms
all while obtaining even better hoof quality.

This is an excellent steel stock designed by Robertson. Whether you have one horse or a hundred, you should have some sort of horse stock. This is one of the better designs I have seen. Remember, your steel stock can be reinforced for sling use. www.robertsonhorsestocks.com |

MUHSA ~ Multi Use Horse Stock Aid |

| Here is a fine example of a shoeing stock at www.muhsa.com These are used for draft horses and other equine. Notice that they are on skids for mobility. Reinforcements and sling hoisting beam can be incorporated into this design quite easily. | |
